Biography

Pablo Cafici is an Argentinian pianist, music producer and composer  based in New York City since 2015. Classically trained and deeply versatile, he bridges a unique spectrum of musical worlds—ranging from Latin American folk traditions to progressive rock, electronic sound design, and contemporary tango.

Pablo’s artistic identity is shaped by a deep passion for sound—both acoustic and electronic. A devoted synthesizer enthusiast, he designs sounds for film scores, sample libraries, and his own upcoming albums set for release in 2025. He is the creator of multiple recording projects and YouTube channels, including Calm in the Dark—a dark ambient music platform that merges atmospheric soundscapes with introspective piano and synth textures.

In 2018, he released Nashville Sessions, recorded at Velvet Studios (Nashville) with legendary drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan, John Mayer), bassist Martín Delahaye (Paulina Rubio), and guest artists such as Machiko Ozawa (violin), Amy Kang (cello), and Rodrigo Aranjuelo (guitar). The project was produced by Michael Whittaker (Dave Matthews Band, Lionel Richie) and mastered by Carli Beguerie at Mastering Boutique NYC.

Pablo is a longtime member of the JP Jofre Hard Tango Chamber Band and has toured extensively across Asia and the Americas with 16-time Grammy Award-winning clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera. He has performed at prestigious venues and festivals such as Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, TED Talks, Google Talks, Lotte Hall (Seoul), Seoul Art Center (Seoul), World Music Festival (Panama), Something Jazz club and El Choclo (Tokyo) Castleton Festival, among others.

In recent years, he has worked with a new generation of alternative artists including Usted Señalemelo, Plasticity, Amanda B, Odd Mami, Joven Breakfast, Gauchito Club, and Felipe Staiti (Enanitos Verdes). His ability to move seamlessly between styles—anchored by technical excellence and a deep musical curiosity—makes him a rare blend of musical languages in one artist.

Beyond classical and tango, Pablo’s roots are deeply connected to Latin American folk music, having performed traditional styles from across the region. The music of Astor Piazzolla was a profound early influence and continues to shape his artistic identity. As a keyboardist and synthesizer enthusiast, he draws equal inspiration from progressive rock, metal, and electronic music—genres that have defined much of his playing and creative direction.

As a producer, performer, and engineer, he has worked on a wide range of acclaimed albums including Manifiesto (2017), and Double Concerto for Bandoneon and Violin No. 1 (2018) with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. His production credits also include collaborations with the Catalyst String Quartet and chamber duets featuring Kyung Sun Lee, Ji In Yang, and Michael Katz.
